Christopher Stuart
"Untitled Self Portrait", 2010
48x36in, charcoal on rag paper

Here's a recent drawing I did in school.  The assignment was to include objects that symbolized how I thought people saw me.  It was a fun assignment. I've been working towards pushing the variety of mark making, edge quality, and finish vs process.  I felt like I made huge strides towards my goals with this one.  I am learning to slow down and edit.  To push the variety, I have been using a straight edge to erase and mass in, which has given super crisp lines.  Very fun new technique.  There is still much to discover.  I'm excited about what I find.

We had to have something on our head, in our mouth, in our non drawing hand, and one more somewhere we chose.

objects and what they mean:
speakers in mouth= vocal
origami crane leaving hand= my free spirit/asian heritage
large ikea light above head= big ideas/modern/conceptualist
syran wrap around neck= transparent/honest
