i see you're experimenting with some new palettes. the bottom one has an amazing sense of summer light. i love the color variations in the salmon color of the bottom one. right now, it has a very symmetrical balance to it though (maybe you were going for that). there are some shapes that are mirrored left to right. it could be the block in, though. maybe after those objects get clarified, they'll be more different from each other.

the top one has great shapes and good repetition of them. i like the angled vertical lines. they suggest that i am standing off to the right peaking around the building on the right side. i'm interested to see how you handle that transition of space- front to back. nice directions on both. you have a great understanding of color and with these being different from things i've seen, i'm anxious to see where you take them.

Thanks for the feedback Chris. Yeah, this painting has got a ways to go, but it is just starting to pick up momentum - I am planning on painting the horse jumps today or soon enough and put in some major verticals and diagonals in the foreground - should be interesting. As for the light, I am glad you are able to sense summer light, that is exactly what it is. I'll post the painting as it progresses. I really am going for something a little different in this painting - the way I translate shape and color, but I am still not sure what it is.

The painting on the top has a lot of reflected light on it - I'll have to shoot it again so it can read better and the color more accurately.
